The Problem

Why Does Wyndham Need This?

Wyndham has over 50 documented community health programs. But nearly all of them are built for adults, seniors, or families. There's almost nothing for young people outside of a school or clinic โ€” and that gap has been officially documented in Wyndham's own reports.

"There is less visibility of youth-specific mental health initiatives outside of school settings. Expanding peer support for young people could address this gap."

Most services are too expensive or hard to get to. The Rover comes to them โ€” free, no appointment needed.

Culturally inclusive by design. Every young person is welcome, no matter where they're from. ๐ŸŒ
75%
Of mental health conditions emerge before age 25
Early intervention is consistently the most effective approach โ€” and the least costly for health systems in the long run.
$0
Cost to every participant
Wyndham's Municipal Health Plan identifies cost as a key driver of health inequity. The Rover removes that barrier entirely.
The Difference

Not a PE Class. Not a Clinic. Something New.

Most health options for young people have real limitations. WynHealth Rover was built specifically around those gaps.

What We Deliver

The Four Pillars ๐Ÿ’ช

Every Rover session covers all four of these. Not one, not two โ€” all four in 35 minutes. That's the whole point.

โšก

Movement Boosters

Short, sharp bursts to raise the heart rate and build strength. No sports background needed โ€” everyone joins from the start.

  • 5-min energy bursts (squat โ†’ jump sequences)
  • Mini circuits with resistance bands
  • Balance pads and agility ladders
  • Outdoor games โ€” reaction tag, relays
  • Weekly Movement Streak Cards
๐Ÿฅฆ

Nutrition Skills

Hands-on food literacy activities. Actual skills they can use at the supermarket or in the kitchen โ€” not just "eat your vegetables."

  • Build-a-balanced-plate activity
  • "Sugar detective" โ€” spot hidden sugars in everyday foods
  • Smoothie building (high fibre, low sugar)
  • Nutrition label-reading races
  • Healthy lunchbox makeovers
๐Ÿง

Behaviour Change Lessons

Ten-minute micro-lessons on the things that actually shape teen health โ€” kept short and specific so they stick.

  • Sleep routines and why they affect focus
  • Screen time, dopamine, and how to manage both
  • Breathing techniques for stress
  • Vaping and alcohol harm prevention
  • Healthy relationships and setting boundaries
๐ŸŒŸ

Youth Leadership Pathway

Teens who complete the program can train to run sessions themselves โ€” turning participants into leaders and extending the Rover's reach through peer networks.

  • Movement leaders (run warm-ups)
  • Nutrition ambassadors
  • Peer wellbeing mentors
  • Certificate of participation
  • Priority access to future Rover events

What participants leave withA Streak Card, a QR habit tracker, and at least one practical skill they didn't have before.

๐Ÿ”

Why it's structured this wayHeart rate rises twice โ€” once to open, once to close. The brain-based learning sits in between. That order is deliberate.

Session Breakdown

What Happens in 35 Minutes?

Same structure every time. Heart rate up twice, nutrition skill taught, behaviour change covered. In that order, every visit.

1
5 minโšก Movement Burst

Squat-reach-jump sequences, fast laps, shadow boxing. Gets everyone activated and ready.

Why: raises heart rate, improves insulin sensitivity, sets the energy for the session
2
10 min๐Ÿฅฆ Nutrition Skill

Hands-on food activity โ€” label reading, sugar detective challenge, or balanced plate build. Changes each visit.

Why: active learning sticks better than being told what to eat
3
10 min๐Ÿง  Behaviour Change

One focused lesson on sleep, screens, stress, vaping, or relationships. One topic at a time, on purpose.

Why: single-topic lessons outperform multi-topic ones for recall
4
5 min๐ŸŽฎ Movement Game

Reaction tag, team relays, mirror-me. Second heart-rate spike. Ends high, not flat.

Why: finishing on a positive experience increases the chance of coming back
5
5 min๐Ÿ“‹ Habit Challenge (optional)

Streak Card or QR-code habit tracker to continue the change at home. One session isn't enough โ€” this bridges the gap.

Why: habit formation requires repetition beyond a single session

About

The Person Behind It ๐Ÿ‘‹

A

Aaryav

Founder & Program Designer ยท WynHealth Rover

I built WynHealth Rover after looking at Wyndham's community health programs and noticing a clear pattern โ€” programs for seniors, adults, carers, and families, but almost nothing for young people that wasn't attached to a school or a sports club.

I used Wyndham's own health data, the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (2021โ€“2025), and evidence from local organisations like IPC Health and the Wyndham Health Foundation to design something around what was genuinely missing. The result is a program that hits all six modifiable health behaviours in a single 35-minute session, delivered wherever young people already are.

The Rover is mobile, free, and designed for Wyndham specifically โ€” not a generic health program dropped into a new postcode.
